Company, Fall In!

Posted September 27th, 2009 by Adam J. Duso

Welcome to my blog. My name is Adam Duso. I have maintained an online presence since 2001, and in that time, have attempted many personal web-logs. However, lacking direction or solid topic theme, these “journals” have all lost momentum over time.

I joined the United States Army in June of 2009. In deciding to contribute to the growing collection of military themed blogs (termed mil-blogs) online, I have spent a considerable amount of effort in educating myself as to the current state of the military, it’s involvement in current conflicts, and my personal feelings towards key issues and philosophies, particularly those of the Army. I reviewed many other mil-blogs, noting the writing styles of those who have been successful, and hope that I will be able to adapt my own style, that will find equal success.

The title “This Soldier’s Creed” is a play on words, meant to reflect both the personal thoughts and ideas I hope to share over time, and the U.S. Army’s soldier’s creed, of which I’ve come to respect, and along with the Army Values, represent the personal convictions I’m trying to live by. I’ve written the creed below.

Soldier’s Creed

I am an American soldier.

I am a warrior, and a member of a team. I serve the people of the United States, and live the Army values.

I will always place the mission first.
I will never accept defeat.
I will never quit.
I will never leave a fallen comrade.

I am disciplined, physically and mentally tough. Trained and proficient in my warrior tasks and drills.

I always maintain my arms, my equipment, and myself.
I am an expert, and I am a professional.

I stand ready to deploy, engage, and destroy the enemies of the United States of America in close combat. I am a guardian of freedom, and the American way of life.

I am an American soldier.

I look forward to writing articles for this blog, and practicing my journalism. I am at the beginning of my Army career, and I’m excited to have the technology available to chronicle it, and share it with family and friends. Check back often.
